We took a day trip to Idaho City for a family outing and walked around town. The most memorable part of the day happened at lunch time. We were eating egg sandwiches and the wasps would not leave us alone. Behind me, I heard Joseph start screaming and I turned to see his lip bloody. I went to pick him up when I noticed a wasp IN his mouth. Mark swiped it out and then ran to the rinky dink merc to see if they had any benydrl. No where in town had liquid so we had to crush a pill. His lip swelled up, but we don't think he's allergic thankfully. It's hard to see in the picture. Can you imagine a wasp in your mouth? Yuck! Poor kid.

Monkey Buziness
For a day off of school, we went with cousins to play on inflatables. It was last minute, but the kids enjoyed it. Dani went down this big slide over and over and screamed every time and everyone could hear it and would laugh.

More firsts
It was a busy day for this little man. He started off crawling this morning, although he prefers to scoot more than get on his knees. Then this afternoon I gave him his first haircut. I didn't put a before/after picture, but the difference wasn't that noticeable, just cleaning up around the ears and shortening the top. After that Joseph decided to pull himself up into a standing position while holding onto me (notice the rolls on his legs). I don't think he'll pull up on furniture yet, but it's coming soon enough. Lastly, I decided to give him real fruit (not just the baby jar stuff). I put it in a little mesh bag that they suck so they don't get the chunks of fruit. Mark informed me later the blueberries were a little sour, hence the sour look on Joseph's face.

My baby is crawling
I'm not ready for this. I have been trying for weeks to get the kids to keep stuff picked up off the floor and I still manage to swipe things out of Joseph's mouth on an hourly basis. Now that he's getting closer to making it to the kitchen floor, I might have to reconsider letting Taylor's job continue as sweeping the floor.

Family time
Mark's family was able to get together for our nieces' temple sealing and baby blessing. We were able to get some family pictures while everyone was here.

School time
The first day at school is already here. Our normal photogenic Dani looks a little nervous - don't you think? Poor Sam walks around the house asking for Dani. He doesn't like his entertainment to be away.

Horse Rides
Some of our friends had a "back to school" party. The kids especially loved the horse rides and snowcones.

Just the boys and I
Once again the boys were sick and Daddy had to be at church (He was being called to be the Elders Quorum President). So mom stayed home with just the boys and we had fun. Sam is not use to having so much attention from mom. This was just a pre-cursor to what it might? be like when both girls are off to school in just over a week. We played with blocks, did some bowling, played on the swingset, had some lunch, and mom's favorite - had some naps (except mom of course - this is my alone time).
My hair is naturally wavy and I've never known how to use it to my advantage, so I've always straightened it. This was my attempt to try something different. I think it looks decent in the picture, but within an hour it was another story - unfortunately I was already at church by that time. Does anyone have any good ideas?
Joseph is preparing to crawl. It's as if they don't want anything to do with it, and then one day they figure out how to get on their knees and they want to be off and going.

Carousel
It has become the tradition that every time we go to Salem, Great Grandma and Grandpa take the kids to the carousel. I don't know who looks forward to it more.

At the beach
Any of you who have been to the Oregon Coast know how frigid the water is. We were lucky and found a lake of water on the beach that didn't recede and the water was quite warm and deep enough to swim in. Even Mark got in.
